Tutorials

One of the reasons I started this blog was so that people could learn from my mistakes.  While I don't think I'm good or ready enough to be teaching anyone about creating art, hopefully you can learn something from my process and the inevitable mistakes I will make along the way.

Water Gun Water Gun Sky Attack Solves a Problem Like Maria Album Back Cover

No, that's not a typo.  It's two Water Guns.  Don't ask me why.  This was a volunteer album cover in which I learned a hell of a lot, and hopefully you will too.  It involves zombies.

Turtle Village

This is an older piece that I submitted to a conceptart.org challenge.  I am a little ashamed of it now, but hopefully it will give you some insight.

A Tale of Two Werewolves

A comparison between an older piece and a newer one, and an explanation as to why the newer piece is better in so many ways.  Part self congratulatory pat on the back, and part genuinely useful advice!

The Bakemonkey That Haunts the Mountains

A more recent submission to the conceptart.org challenges.  I was quite proud of this, and disappointed that it didn't do better in the voting.

A Princess of Mars Art Order Challenge

Might be more drama in there than it's worth.  The final piece is not something I'm particularly proud of.

Chess Knight

Another older work.  It's in the bottom of this list for a reason.
